What happens when you call?
Depending on call volume at the time you ring, your call
will be answered either directly by a triage nurse or by a call handler.
We will take details of the patients name, date of
birth, address and telephone number - as well as the reason for your call.
|
|
|
If you speak to a call handler then they will arrange
for a triage nurse to ring you back as soon as possible to complete a telephone assessment.
|
|
If you speak directly to a triage nurse then they will
proceed to undertake a telephone assessment.
The outcome of your telephone consultation will be one of
the following:
- Self care advice and information, to assist you to manage
your problem.
- An appointment to attend one of our clinical sites to see
a GP or Nurse Practitioner.
- A Home visit by either a GP or Nurse Practitioner.
If your condition is deemed life threatening or you have a
traumatic injury then you may be redirected to A&E or, via a call
conference, with the Ambulance service.
A summary of your encounter is forwarded to your own GP
for storage in your medical records and to keep them informed of your consultation by the next business working day.
